January Sale (in February) - Everything Must Go!

Happy New Year!

Bit of a crisis of office space right now. I have author copies of my stuff piling up everywhere, and it's getting so I've forgotten what colour the floor beneath all the cardboard boxes is. So - for a limited period only - I'm offering a bunch of my books for sale.

Basically, the deal is this: I'll sign and/or personalise to e-mail order as requested, and then sell you the resulting copy for cover price plus postage. If that seems fair, all you need to participate are:

1) A pay-pal account
2) A home address
3) Some money

To save time and math, I'm going to band all postage costs at a couple of basic levels - Big (hardback, trade paperback) and Small (mass market paperback). This will obviously vary with destination, but will always include whatever tracking option is available for the parcel in each case.

So - mail me with what you want, I'll let you know if I've got copies, and I'll give you a price. If you're agreeable to that price, you make the payment into the pay-pal account I give you, and I'll send the book off as soon as confirmation comes through.

For now, you can assume that I have multiple copies of UK and US editions, both paperback and hardback (where hardback exists), as well as a sprinkling of translated editions in about twenty other languages, and also a few audio-books (which I'll sign in marker on the back of the case). As I say, this is for a limited time only, specifically for the purposes of clearing some space on my shelves, and I expect (I hope!) supply will decline quite fast - so if you're interested, for either yourself or a gift for someone else, I'd advise you to get in quick!

Please say you have Leyes de Mercado!

If so, I want it.

Anything left?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 06 February 2009 15:08

Sent in my request. Hope he has them.

Anybody hear back yet?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 07 February 2009 15:48

Hi Guys (especially the last guy)

I think I have now successfully replied to everybody who's mailed me so far (so if you haven't heard, hit me again). I sent out the first six orders today, and have the rest lining up as people come back to me with the specifics of what they want.

State of play with regard to stock is this: plenty of Steel Remains, Thirteen/Black Man and Woken Furies left, both hardback and paperback editions. Books earlier than that are far more depleted, with no hardbacks except the super-pricey Limited Ed of Altered Carbon from Subterranean Press, and dwindling supply of paperbacks as well. So don't delay!

By Blogger Richard Morgan, at 07 February 2009 23:24

...oh yeah - and for any real collectors of exotica; a wide selection of foreign language editions too!!

By Blogger Richard Morgan, at 08 February 2009 00:01

I haven't used paypal for years, not since they managed to lose £100 for me.

Cheque? Bank Transfer? Postal order?

By Blogger bascule, at 09 February 2009 19:06

Hey Richard, just make sure any items to collectors are utterly unmarked and thoroughly wrapped. It was seeing books used for post office drop footballs and collectors complaining about marks you've need a magnifying glass to see that put me off this whole idea.

btw read 'The Retreat of Reason'.

By Blogger Neal Asher, at 17 February 2009 16:28

Hi Neal. No worries, they all go out with a big label on saying CONTAINS EXPLOSIVE CHEMICALS :-)

No complaints so far - I think my buyers have all been genuine fans rather than pro collectors - mostly, they're asking for personalised signatures.

All well with you in the sun and sapphire-blue Med, I trust?

Concrete slab for a roof, no insulation, no central heating ... even though 10 degrees warmer out there it's still bloody cold in the winter. We're not heading out until March.

By Blogger Neal Asher, at 19 February 2009 09:29

The only damage to shipments I've experienced so far, was that someone put too much weight on the padded envelopes and the spine part of the dvd covers got damaged (I buy most books at the local shop). That's from UK to Slovenia.

Completely off-topic, but I thought you needed to read this. It's just too funny in places:

......got to be fucking kidding me......!

Thanks for this, DJ. Might even have to link it to the site at some point.

And this is in all seriousness, right? Ah, so American. Sometimes I need to be reminded how conservatives think.

Perfect dead seriousness, yeah. I tried so hard to pick a favorite moment, but there were just so damn many good ones.

After careful and obsessive review, I'd have to cast a vote for the Croatian Altered Carbon being the foxiest cover. And the flyleaf pages are stunning.

Although the Swedish 'Matrix-style' cover for Market Forces is a close second.

By Blogger Jared, at 26 February 2009 09:20

Hi Jared, glad you liked them.

Yeah, the Croatian one is a beauty, isn't it. One of those covers that I not only like but would actively consider hanging on a wall somewhere in my home. It's also the only one to pick up on that early nineties Inuit style jacket I gave Kovacs - and I have a soft spot for that jacket because I used to own one myself. The only other person who ever picked up on that was Steph Swainston, who once asked if it was based on my own wardrobe and then, when I admitted it was, laughed like a drain :-)))))))))

Hey is it too late to accept the deal? Have you got something in Italian left? Cheers.

By Blogger Francesco Troccoli, at 03 March 2009 20:26

Damn!!!! I'm checking your page every now and then for updates: EXCEPT the past two months!

It's just the fault of the German publisher, since they told me that Steel Remains will only hit the German market somewhen in 2010, so I got lazy on checking the latest news! ;-)

I hope you still have some remainders left! Will send out the e-mail request straight away!

Cheers!

Coratian pic can be seen here: http://www.algoritam.hr/?m=1&p=proizvod&kat=22&id=111163#

It is indeed excellent...

Just finished, and loved, the Steel Remains, so I'm debating whether to change my plan of getting the Sub Press hardback (because it's illustrated by the amazing Vincent Chong) or buy a signed copy of the Gollancz (which has an equally great Laura Brett cover).

By the time I've finished dithering, Richard will probably have sold all his books.

By Blogger Jamie, at 04 March 2009 11:05

Jamie,

Thanks for the link to the Croatian cover - I'd been looking for it.

And, you definitely need both the Chong and the Gollancz, imo!

I'm sorry, but that picture on the Croatian cover has just ruined my mental image of Takeshi Kovacs. How can he (or you, Mr Morgan) have worn anything so ... daggy? ;-)

By Anonymous Shaanti, at 05 March 2009 10:57

Hi Richard...
Maybe I'm ...a bit late,
But I'll ask anyway:
¿Is there something left?
I'm interested on a Harcover copy of Altered Carbon or Broken Angels...(I've already have the paperbacks)

By Blogger CMD, at 05 March 2009 14:56

Brief update on stock:

No hardcovers left of anything except Thirteen (and precious few of those remaining)

UK trade paperbacks of The Steel Remains and Black Man still available in fair numbers, plus a couple of trades of Thirteen and the US edition of Broken Angels.

Mass market paperbacks of Black Man (B format, choice of two covers) and Woken Furies (A format). plus a couple of US mmps of Altered Carbon (though these have a bit of light bleaching on the top edge from being shelved with exposure to light)

Francesco, I have a couple of hardbacks of "Il Ritorno delle Furie" if you're interested.

Various other foreign editions in varying formats and numbers - let me know what you'd like.

By Blogger Richard Morgan, at 05 March 2009 23:50

Hi I just sent an e-mail to You to "order" the two copies of Il ritorno delle furie and one copy of The steel remains. Details in the e-mail. THANKS! :)

By Blogger Francesco Troccoli, at 06 March 2009 18:41

So everything went. I missed out. I like Black Widow the Best. She would have been my vote/request.

I have been so busy creating (fresh ideas) but I would make Time for her. She kicks arse.

Did anyone note in the news that monsters are coming out of the sea? I say kill tHIM.
t(He)y are up to no good, causing chaos and scaring women and children.

Question is: will it be a slow death or a quick kill? We need to network, bastards. tHey'll be a challenge.

I'll do it myself and bee a hero.

By Anonymous Dagny, at 18 May 2009 05:53

Read this jsut now - first reaction: Crap, I missed it!!! The 2 second later calmer reaction - I already have a copy of every book you wrote :) (And of Neal's also)

I understand the collector aspect of it, but I would accept notebook paper with a big staple through it myself - my burning need is always to read it!
